Today, Im sure most of you have read already via facebook, my little
MaryJayne got her tiny finger smooshed in the car door and we spent
the afternoon in the ER getting it X-rayed and the blood drained out from
under her nail. I have to admit, it was one of those times when
I question how I will ever get through the trials of having kids...the bumps
and bruises are one thing, but those big things are what are just killer. Lets just
say its a good thing Walmart sells good gray covering hair dye.
It was funny...not really in a haha way, but you know...
anyway, the doctor that helped us said this, he said "Nothing will make
you hate life quite like smashing a finger." It
is possibly one of the worst feelings we have all experienced. Perhaps
not the most painful, but one of the most "oh God, oh God Oooooh God"
moments. One of those moments where you are just thinking...this SUCKS!
So at first I agreed with what the doc said...but
as I pondered it for a while, I though no, nothing will
make you APPRECIATE life quite like a smashed finger.
I was so hurt for MJ today...so sad...so scared, and it was just a
smashed finger. But it made me think about how I am so
thankful for the little things in life that we take for granted...like fingers.
So in the spirit of the holiday that has passed and little things...
here are a few more I am thankful for.
Remotes. Shoes. Forks and knives. Mangoes. Mascara.
Green. Melissa and Doug puzzles. Retro formica tables.
Prisma color colored pencils. Musicals. Cardigans.
Solitaire. Clear finger nail polish. Cake
Measuring cups. Rick Rick Rick.
