"Now do you understand why it is so important to let others know how thankful
you are for the kindness they show you MaryJayne?" This the question to the lesson
little MJ has heard time and time again on a long drive home.
Tonights drive was no exception.
I know how tired she was of the examples I had been giving her of how to
show your gratitude towards someone and i'm positive
she was truly THANKFUL that the thunder was muffling my voice most of the excursion.
I need her to know though. I don't want her to be one of those children that just
EXPECT good things to come their way without needing to express any form of thanks.
And then came to me as I tucked her in.
Am I just preaching to her what I, myself, should be
doing? Do I say thank you enough? Do I not only say thank you, but do I find ways
to SHOW I am thankful? So I think....hmmm....I know I said thank you to Mr. Calvin, my
wonderful neighbor for hauling off those many many trash bags full of sweet gum balls,
but how does he really know I am appreciative? How can I show him? I'm going to
make him a lovely dinner and invite him over next week...I just hope he knows NOW how
thankful I am. Shoot! Did I ever tell Josh thank you for fixing that light in the kitchen?
I don't think I did. Dang it, now how can I expect him to fix the heater in a time for next winter? ;)
Or Mom....did I tell her thanks for the time and time
and time again that she has thrown me a bone to help me all the times I have cried in her ear?
*sigh*
And all you reading? Have I ever told you I was thankful for the trips you make to read my
random thoughts, be it your first time or your fiftieth. Thank you. If you haven't read it
from me before, please know that now and every time past and future, I am thankful that
you are here.

much obliged
