Tip of the Morning to ya!

So its not really morning....sue me, I thought it was funny! :)  It's Tuesday and
that means my second tip share.  This tip is going to be about composition tricks and
rules of thumb that are good to keep in your noggin.  Now mind you, these are things
that I have found to be useful...they aren't commandments, just general rules one
could follow but not necessarily HAVE to live by.  Just little pointers that have helped me
along the way.  Some of you may already know these things from having
a design or photo class, and if so, sorry to bore you...like I said before, start counting
grammatical errors and you will be surely entertained.  So lets get into it.

My first tip is positioning the subject within the frame the "more pleasing" way (aka
the right and ONLY way to do it if you want to be a good photographer ;) I kid, I fool!)
There is golden rule my friends and its called the Mystical Magical Marvelous Rule of Thirds...
aka...just plain the Rule of Thirds.
The basic notion of the rule of thirds is to break the image down into thirds both horizontally
and vertically.  Like a tic tac toe board is in your viewfinder.  So if you place the
key subjects of your photo along those likes or intersections you have a more pleasing
photo.  Studies have been done folks.  That means its truth!  But really....it just is more
pleasing to the eye to place the subject in those key areas as opposed to smack dab in the
dag nabbit center of the image.  Is that always the case?  No, I don't think so.
I have taken many a photo that doesn't follow that rule that I thought would look
way not cool if I had done it any other way.  But nine times out of ten, I use the rule of thirds.
When you begin to practice it, it will come to you and you wont even know you are thinking
about it.  You will just see it.  Take a look at these examples.

You see how much more attractive the one on the...mmmm...right...it's the right one
right?...yeah, I mean I guess if IT were looking at US it would be the left, but...yeah...
the one on the right.  You see how that one just is more pleasing to the eye?

Its because our eyes don't naturally go to the center of an image oddly enough, they
tend to gravitate more towards those intersections.  And take a look at those leading lines too...

Leading lines you say?  What?  Yeah I'll talk about that one next week.  I've already overloaded
this post.  So go practice this if you don't already.  You will find yourself loving your photos a whole
lot more and others will too.  They wont know why...but you will!

Have a groovy Tuesday....ooh Groovy Tuesday, I like the sound of that....maybe because
it sounds like Ruby Tuesday and I want a salad.

BYE!!!
